It was our best gig and thats the only way it can be said. We started the traditional evening with a predictable opener, Club Foot, which is now a regular kickstarter to our set. As the first set panned out, we noticed an improved sense of involvement from the audience, and during songs like ‘Johnny B Goode’ and ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ many were on their feet. Of course closing our first set with the 2006 Arctic Monkeys Anthem, Dancing Shoes!
Our second set started with a bang, playing ‘If You Wanna’ and ‘Not Nineteen Forever’ respectively, which were the best we have ever played them by a long distance. By this time there was no time for a sit down, the buzz continued through songs like ‘Kathleen’, ‘Use Somebody’, ‘She bangs the drums’, ‘Same Jeans’ and our very own ‘She’s the Beat’. We ended our set with two of our best performances of single songs to date, with ‘Mr. Brightside’ and ‘Don’t look back in anger’ absolutely driving the place wild!
It was then that time of the year where we count down, although none of us actually had a clue what time it was exactly, we counted down regardless. This was met with joy from the audience and ourselves. A run through of ‘Auld Lang Syne’ didn’t go amiss, and it was fantastic to be caught up in the atmosphere at that moment; everyone on their feet, appreciating the effort and time put into our band over the course of 2014. We handed out the copies of the new CD around to our spectacular supporters at no cost, a thank you, and also a point prover to show everyone that their support is worthwhile. At about two minutes past twelve, on the first day of 2015, we played our newest single ‘Town’ to a spectacular crowd, who seemed to know all the words, some even sporting cards with the lyric ‘Get me out’ scrawled on the front; a truly amazing time for us. I’d go as far to say it was emotional.
Thank you all,
Liam, Duffy, Brad and Luke x
